I'll never forget my first visit to Frank's in 1961. Walking down that narrow hall off of Wabash Ave. and into the small elevator and then up to the 5th floor. When those elevator doors opened it was like the transition from B/W to color in the film the "Wizard of Oz". Floor to ceiling percussion..amazing. No one there ever hassled us. If fact we were encouragede to explore the whole place. I'll never forget the one Saturday morning we met Louis Bellson there. Places like Frank's will never exist again. A real loss for younger people today who wish to become serious percussionists. Frank's for the Memories..indeed!
